Lucasfilm 正式公佈 第9集《星球大戰》（Star Wars：EPISODE IX）將於2018年8月1日開始拍攝工作，而 莉亞（Leia Organa）的角色將會採用 Carrie Fisher 在第7集《星球大戰：原力覺醒》未使用的片段去完成「天行者」的故事。


Billy Dee Williams 將會再次飾演 蘭度（Lando Calrissian） 一角。另外，加入電影的新演員包括 Naomi Ackie、Richard E. Grant 以及 Keri Russell。
